Easy Summer Dips

Perfect for poolside munching, dips are an easy way to snack when you don’t feel like eating heavy. They’re easily portable in our Trailhead Double-Sided Container, Day Tripper, or in a combination of Dippers.

 

Here are some kid approved dips you can make using items you may already have in your kitchen:

 

CREAMY BEAN DIP

Simple, tasty, and filling!

 

Ingredients

15 ounce can black beans

¼ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt 

1 garlic clove

¼ tsp cumin

½ tsp salt

 

Directions

1. Combine ingredients in a food processor. Puree until smooth. 

2. Serve at room temperature with vegetables or chips.

 

AVOCADO HUMMUS

Creamy and nutritious! 

 

Ingredients

15 ounce can chickpeas

Juice of 1 lemon

¼ cup tahini

2 Tbsp canned  chickpea liquid 

1 garlic clove

1 avocado, peeled and chopped

½ tsp salt

2 Tbsp olive oil

 

Directions

1. Drain chickpeas, reserving liquid.

2. Add chickpeas and 2 Tbsp reserved liquid to a food processor. Add remaining ingredients and pulse until smooth.

3. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, carrot sticks, or cucumber spears.

 

PEACH SALSA

A delicious way to use your summer peaches!

 

Ingredients

4 peaches, diced 

1 red bell pepper, chopped

½ red onion, chopped

2 Tbsp chopped cilantro (optional) 

Juice of 1 lime

Salt, to taste

 

Directions

1. In a bowl, mix together peaches, pepper, onion, and cilantro (if using)

2. Add the lime juice and salt.

3. Serve with tortilla chips or pita chips.

 

DOLE WHIP DIP

A tropical dipping dessert for sunny days!

 

Ingredients

1 cup chopped pineapple

8 oz whipped cream cheese

¼ cup powdered sugar

½ cup whipping cream

 

Directions

1. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix until combined.

2. Fold in chopped pineapple followed by whipped cream,

3. Serve with graham crackers, strawberries, or melon.

 

Or, simpler to put together, grab some pre-made dips from the grocery store and pair them up with your favorite chips or veggie crisps. For extra fun, have your kids use the wavy chopper to cut their fruits and veggies!  Our favorite snack combinations include:

 

1. Tzatziki and pita chips

2. Cowboy caviar with tortilla chips

3. Spinach artichoke dip with soft pretzel bites

4. Baba ganoush with vegetable crudités
